Lake Ontario Salmon Fishing Using Downrigging
To catch these fish the downrigging method is used. A manually powered or electric winch and weight is used to take the line and lure to a specific depth. This method is ideal if you have a fish finder and can determine at what depth the fish are at.
When the fish takes the lure a line release mechanism releases the line from the weight.
This enables you to fight the fish alone and not the weight!
